That was textbook goaltending. I don't see what the big deal is.

If you think that has "a reasonable possibility of entering the basket", physics and geometry are obviously not long suits of yours.

 

The rule says "reasonable possibility." The fact the ball could hypothetically have hit the floor and bounced up and in doesn't suffice.

 

You can't assume you know where it's going to go when it hits the rim. But of course we never got to find out, because it was goaltended.
