Surprised because I assume with NCAA rules he'll have to divest interest in his baseball academy, not because he doesn't care. I think it was my sophomore year against Florida, the ump called a pitch a strike and he yelled "bullshit" as loud as he could from the third base box. He got to leave work early that day, but it was awesome.
He was very vocal about the lack of development in players and he's also very close to some in the AD.
Andrew Lee goes in the 11th round to the Nats, assuming he is gone. Congrats to the big guy. Why he was not hitting day 1, I have no clue. Owenby goes in the 12th round to the Brewers. Simcox goes in round 14 to the Tigers. Marks goes in round 15 to the Yankees.
Andy Cox was drafted in round 37 by the A's. Vol signee Bryant Harris was drafted in the 38th round by the Tigers.

Pat Murphy will be interim manager of the Padres. Here's to hoping he has an awful experience and is ready to get back into the college game after Dave departs at the end of 2016.
Depends on how this stint goes. Pat is very, very well respected around the game at all levels. He's had some run ins with the 'AA, and that probably is the biggest deterrent. He has some ties to Tennessee, though. Eric Byrnes, who I think is a meathead and an overall idiot, just reported on MLBN that there are multiple people in the Padres organization that think he's the greatest players manager in the entire minor leagues. He's won everywhere he's went, he's a helluva baseball mind, and he also isn't afraid to jump someone's shit. With that said, the Padres and their front office is a dumpster fire. He has a bad experience I could see him making a move back into college baseball. I don't see anyway that happens in the next year, however. Just wishful thinking on my part.
