He was employed here at one point. Not as a coach. I think some kind of talent scout position similar to his role with the Cowboys.
Something interesting I noticed looking at the SEC recruiting rankings. Missouri appears to not really be recruiting high school players much anymore. They’re dead last in the SEC and only have 10 commits in this year’s class. And it’s not like they suck as a program currently. Interesting to see which programs just decide to totally rely on the portal. I don’t think that leads to long term success, but it could definitely land a coach a better job if that’s what he’s shooting for.
I think at least in theory you might also expect programs like Missouri or Arkansas who are at a disadvantage in recruiting geographically to rely more on the portal, picking up guys who want to play in SEC coming from lower conferences that the best programs don’t want or guys moving down from the best programs.
I think relying on it will prove to be dangerous. You're basically surrendering the opportunity to establish a culture and also become dependent on building depth out of one or two classes rather than 4 or 5.
Kiffin has done it since it became a thing. I think this years recruiting class for them might be the first he has had in the top 30 when its all said and done. His classes have be terrible.
Clemson Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney did the Tennessee Vols a couple of huge favors 2026 four-star edge rusher Dre Quinn has been committed to Clemson since June. The Vols, however, are working hard to flip the talented recruit. Quinn, 6-foot-4/228 lbs from Buford, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 35 edge rusher in the nation. On3's Chad Simmons noted on Monday that Quinn, who visited Tennessee for their game against Georgia, is on flip watch after the Tigers' loss to Syracuse.
Unfortunately for us, he’d be crazy to choose us over them if his goal is to win at an high level and have a successful NFL career.
In all the doom and gloom from the weekend, I will say there has been a decided uptick in the recruiting last year and this year. I don't know how this translates to the future, but the talent will be there to make a run, if we can put it together. This kid is a part of this push, hopefully. Kid is a playmaker. And [uck fay] Ohio State.
The ncaa went away and Tennessee is one of the better NIL schools around. As for Legend Bey, he was a "silent commit" to nearly every school that offered him, he’s going to go to the highest bidder
I really want this kid in the class but our WR class as a whole is the one group we can afford to lose someone IMO.
Moa, King, and Keys is the best WR class in the country, no doubt. I wonder if Bey is being looked at as more of a Percy Harvin type player in this capacity.
He wants certain promises other schools have not been willing to make. I was surprised he committed to us.
