Feels like Barnes has put together so many excellent teams that were just one piece away from being contenders. Feels like “one piece away” is our ceiling this year.
It's kind of disheartening to think we could have spent the Ament NIL money on him. He's averaging 20 and knows how to play with Gillespie
Yep, and it's almost always a scorer. I think even having a Jordan Gainey back this season would be a major difference. Too many guys who can only score in very specific ways and the defense isn't good enough to compensate.
Barnes wanted Ament really bad, to the point where he asked for big money to get him from the donors. I hope he develops by March into what Rick saw in him. I see a kid who is about 2-3 years away from coming into his body and feeling comfortable on the floor.
Rick would pull anyone else doing what Ament is doing with a quickness. I get it if you are sold on his up side, but at this point, I don't see it. He is not as talented as several freshmen we've had in the past. If this keeps going on a few more weeks, it risks causing team chemistry/morale problems
Do we even have any other options at the 3? Evans is it isn’t it and he was just as bad when he was in. Burg isn’t playable. JG and Boswell will have to play 40 minutes.
Abrams shoulda had Aments minutes. It’s Ike the qb thing how a qb can play like ass and not get benched but other position players make a mistake and get the hook. 7 turnovers for someone who doesn’t handle the ball that much is awful. Burg can help as a kickout to hit a few 3s but we can’t put him in to buy minutes at pg anymore. I don’t know why we are trying that other than to buy maybe 1-2 minutes but something bad seems to happen
We can't roll out lineups with one scorer and four guys either trying to pass them the ball or get a put back. I keep trying to convince myself this team will be really good, but I can't find a legit way.
I got home late, turned on the recorded game, play looked like ass, checked final score, turned off the Tee Vee.
