Barnes tried so hard to turn this team into something in an obvious transition year, and…it’s a transition year. We have a revolving door of four-year freshmen stepping up game after game, but none of them are where they need to be to be the #2 or #3 option. Nice work from Henderson today though
Ament grew into his best game as a Vol. Used his size effectively and didn’t get bothered by the pressure. Hate needing a 2OT escape as double-digit favorites, but this team is a bit of a mess and we don’t have the ballhandlers to have an easy time against the press. Now beat Kentucky.
Brown, Henderson, and Evans have all had games where they have played like starters. Not sure they’ve all done it at the same time, but it’s nice to see from three guys who by all rights should be in the program to grow (plus Boswell, who had a double-double somehow?)
Those are guys who will look deadly playing off a prolific scorer in the upcoming years. Not as primary scorers, but guys who are periphery or 2nd/3rd team all-conference types.
Ament may be awakening. Going to see a lot of press going forward though. If those two comments seem like reasonable things to say after watching, the joke is on you. I just watched the box score and will not watch until tomorrow.
He played well in the OTs, for sure. His block later in the game was big time. I hope he's turned a corner, seems like a great kid and easy to want to root for his success.
