Possibly the grossest bowl draw we've had in the last 30-35 years. Wish we could just fast forward to 2026 at this point.
At this point since there is nothing at stake I hope Bert embarrasses us to the point that we are forced to make changes. Really the biggest pro that can come out of this game.
Bielema is going to run it down Banks throat 65 times in 32 personnel with Banks still sitting in nickel defense.
Seriously considering taking the kids to the men’s basketball game against South Carolina State and ignoring football altogether.
Both fan bases want their defense to give up a bunch of points so the DC gets fired. https://x.com/Really_1eared/status/1997877869192601704
This feels pretty likely. Or if he adjusts personnel he won’t have them prepared to execute and gap control will be nonexistent.
Right or wrong, I have decided that I must view the current state of the college football season as a double-elimination tourney and our draw just happens to be a [itch bay] compared to others (vis-a- vis, the SEC gauntlet). We lost 4 games, 3 of 4 we should have won. We did not. Bama is in because of their name. I believe this. The SEC, media and committee have helped guide my perception. Had any other SEC team gotten beat by FSU and boat raced in the SECC, they would not be playing in the CFP. The conference championship games can be detrimental. However, winning the SECC is a gauntlet that means something to the kids. And the $$ is too good to give up. I would suspect it means as much to a kid in the SEC as a NC. This is probably why, I am not a believer of a team saving-up and not trying to win a conference championship. At least not in the SEC. The kids deserve it. ND is afforded too much leeway, both in scheduling and non-conference participation. I am glad they missed the boat. They can suck it.
The committee has precedent where they've stated the conference title game appearance wouldn't be counted against you if you were in the top 12.
Conference title games did not exist until 1992. I think it is time to rethink them. If there are a known number of SEC teams getting in to a 16 team field, I would rather use it as a tiebreaker-wildcard game.
We all know they started it in 1992 when we went to 2 Divisions. Even though we no longer have Divisions, the money generated is too much to leave on the table. Hence the "results have no impact on your CPF selection" party line and the special ND provision for 2026 based on "polls". It is a goat rodeo extraordinaire. Watching the powers-that-be justify the choices is quite the exercise.
Shit... Music Shitty Bowl has had our number three other times since 2010. But nothin' beats that 6-5 season (following the Sugar vs. Miami) and a Liberty Bowl appearance in 86... Anyway, at least Banks is now gone ... but we aren't gonna see much difference in defense against Illinois...
