Gregg Marshall interested in Texas job, indicates Alabama should save its energy http://www.sbnation.com/2015/3/28/8306775/gregg-marshall-texas-longhorns-alabama-wichita-state
On the one hand, I want the Gumps to hire Barnes to save us from doing it to ourselves. But then I realize copilot Hart has already locked us out of the cockpit.

Just seems an odd fit. But he seems an odd guy, so, who knows. Credit to Alabama for swinging big and throwing the money around...they're not afraid of success.
Couple of things about Gregg Marshall from my own experience and some folks that really know him. 1. He didn't come out of one of the pedigree programs and other than his connection to Kress is as close to a self-made man as possible. So I think he really loves the idea of these big schools and playing hard to get. 2. He does have an unusual personality. Basketball is everything. He sort of has a Billy Gillespie edge without the other problems. In other words, he CAN'T be in a job that has intense scrutiny or booster commitments. He needs to be entirely left alone to do his thing. 3. That said, like many coaches, he loves to be THE man which he was at Winthrop and is at Wichita, two schools with no football and little in the way of serious other entertainment. 4. After turning down NC State and South Carolina I just don't think we will see him leave Wichita. Alabama makes no sense unless they are throwing around insane money. 5. He has an absolutely sweet gig at Wichita with a few nice perks (other than living in Kansas of course). And despite some of the stories I've heard about him, he was exceptionally nice to me when he didn't have to be, so I'll always be a fan of his.
