I'm cool, but I can see how the seemingly endless parade of fail that has followed this program could cause some to question our fortune.
People seemed concerned in several threads. I hoped they would come here and let us know what we are missing.
No. Gruden is going to ride into Knoxville and right up to the press conference microphone on the back of a Tennessee Walking Horse, wearing a coonskin cap and carrying a long rifle. A bundle of pelts will be laid across his steed's rear, a mix of what appears to be tiger, alligator, wildcat, bulldogs, and collie. A dead rooster will hang from his belt, which will be held fast by a large copper buckle stamped with three spiders and a banana. An escort of 11 howling bluetick coonhounds will flow around him into the conference room, eventually "treeing" and baying up Jimmy Hyams on his chair. Things will be immediately different around here.
The fact that this is being mentioned as a possibility terrifies me. I'm concerned that Arkansas will offer an absurd amount of money which Tennessee can't justifiably match.
So you think Money will be the primary motivating factor in his decision? What would be the justification in our not matching?
Then we can offer something more ridiculous. They can't win a bidding war. With that said, if it were only money he would go to the NFL.
I have heard from what I would not consider reliable sources down here in Dallas that one Arkansas Alum, Jerry Jones has promised $800K per year of his own pocket change to raise the ante for Gruden to Arkansas and that Gruden's people are listening to that offer which is rumored in the $6.1 - $6.2 million range. AGAIN, I do not consider these sources reliable and I don't want to ruin my reputation as a new poster over it, but mostly wanted to throw it out here to see if those on the inside from the Tennessee side are hearing any of the same buzz. I'll hang up and listen.
Your 2nd statement is correct. But the first statement - Arkansas would put us to shame in a bidding war. Jerry Jones/Tyson Chicken/Walmart > Haslams.
