Jim Chaney didn’t forget how to coach offense. He’s still a great (not good) offensive coordinator. Weinke sucks apparently. Friend sucks apparently. Ansley does not have this defense playing even remotely to their potential and as good as he’s supposed to be he should have them overachieving. We’re not overachieving anywhere. Saban can lose all his assistants, start over with a bunch of nobody’s and still be great.
After the last decade, I have become increasingly convinced that being able to find, hire, and delegate to quality assistants is one of the top three most important skills you need in a head coach. Saban and Swinney have it in spades. Jones did not, and it doesn’t look like Pruitt does either.

Tangofoxtrot nailed it. Qb has sucked. Look at the teams each year who play well and they have a badass qb who can lead a team and overcome coaching errors and mistakes by other players. Im dead tired of a statue at qb while watching other teams extend drives on 3rd downs with qb running or buying time. Why would any coach not want mobility. Makes no sense.
