Avatar size

Can anyone explain why I can only upload a 4.9kb avatar?? It is incredibly difficult to find pictures that small, much less one that I want to actually use as an avi. Given some of the GIFs I see some of you guys have here, I am guessing there is a way around it.

Presto. What I did was downloaded the picture and resized it in paint. Then uploaded it. I am not sure if me being a mod helped me avoid any hang-ups though. Anyone who ever wants an avatar change and is having trouble can post here and I will do my best.

Awesome thanks! For some reason I couldn't get it small enough in paint without making is basically unrecognizable.
