Best War Movie of All Time

The Big Red One was and still my favorite war movie. IT was one of those movies they kept airing on HBO in the early 80's. I watched every chance it was on. Mark Hamill and Lee Marvin were spectacular.

 

The Dirty Dozen is pretty good, too.

 

It had a great cast.

 

Avengers: Infinity War was another good one.

 

When I was younger I enjoyed Uncommon Valor.

 

The attack scene is pretty good. As awful as the other 2:15 of the movie is, the 45 minutes of that fight scene is good.

 

Has anyone said Dunkirk? That was a legitimate good war movie.

 

Also, we allowing Gone With The Wind to be considered here?

 

Again, like Casablanca, I don't consider it a war movie, as it uses the war as the backdrop, not as part of an actual "character" of the movie.

 

Feels like there should be an actual battle scene to at least be considered, right?

I don’t remember if GWTW or Casablanca do.

 

Good movie.

 

I've never seen the original movie, but the latest Catch 22 Hulu series is a great watch.

Doesn't quite match the book but most don't.

I'm about as sentimental about Sergeant York as someone can be for a movie.

 

1917 looking like it will be very good.

 

My father watches this movie religiously. He made my wife watch it while we were dating. She was so confused - had no idea what was being said. Haha.
