The Big Red One was and still my favorite war movie. IT was one of those movies they kept airing on HBO in the early 80's. I watched every chance it was on. Mark Hamill and Lee Marvin were spectacular.
The attack scene is pretty good. As awful as the other 2:15 of the movie is, the 45 minutes of that fight scene is good.
Again, like Casablanca, I don't consider it a war movie, as it uses the war as the backdrop, not as part of an actual "character" of the movie.
Feels like there should be an actual battle scene to at least be considered, right? I don’t remember if GWTW or Casablanca do.
I've never seen the original movie, but the latest Catch 22 Hulu series is a great watch. Doesn't quite match the book but most don't.
My father watches this movie religiously. He made my wife watch it while we were dating. She was so confused - had no idea what was being said. Haha.
I watched Bat 21 in college while giving plasma and getting $42, enough for 2 or 3 weeks at Rallyburger 99 cent combo.
