Pardon me if I'm not as ecstatic. Brodus doesn't blow my mind. However, it does mean we will go for it on fourth down a lot more because there is no way we attempt a kick over 40 yards. This could reap unexpected benefits.
I have become numb to this. Brodus isn"t flashy, but he can kick an EP at least. Palardy is a bigger bust than Kenny O'Neal, Brandon Jeffries, and Chris Donald combined. At this point, I'm sick of looking at him.
Brodus may not be able to kick a 40 yarder, but let's face it, it had gotten to the point where Palardy could not be trusted to kick an extra point. When that happens, you quit thinking "wow" factor and start thinking "bare minimum" factor. Brodus seems quite competent inside 35. At this point, I'm fine with that.
When your offenses biggest problem is the short yardage/red zone stuff, you aren't going to be kicking a ton of long field goals anyway. You'll kick them when your run game stalls inside the 20 and your WRs can't spread the field. So I agree with you, this should be a gain.
If we can get a kicker to covert EPs and hit from 35 and in I will take it right now. Anything outside of 35 yrds is 4 down territory IMO. Hopefully that materializes.
If we absolutely HAD to have a kick of greater than 35 yards, we could always trot out Palardy and roll the dice. It makes no sense to be playing the Palardy game on EP's and short field goals though.
