Wonder how many excuses he gets given that's his own MO? Is he suceptible to them like great salespeople tend to be wooed by other like salespeople.

That's a terrific quote. To me, it Suma up the Burch Jones era perfectly.

    I hope it's real.

I think there's an unwritten rule where you don't ask Butch questions about in game decisions in his post game interview. You can ask him Monday, when he's had time to think of an acceptable lie.

WTF is the point of the post game interview, then? To hear him say "resiliency" 50 times?

They even asked Fulmer game questions, which he famously deflected by saying he'd have to look at the film. But they asked.

There is no point. It's an opportunity for those media in the cult of Butch to get their voices heard on the air.

Also, evidently Butch mentioned that Wiggins really wants more playing time and that he didn't have an extra DB available for the dime package. He said both of these things in the same press conference, and didn't get called out on it. Not only could anyone check on their smart phone and just read off the list of available corners and safeties, this guy literally just mentioned an available DB.

When did it get this bad?

Hell, they helped get rid of Fulmer, who was about as entrenched as you can get.

They want access. So they prop up the coach until he is gone. Even Fulmer at the end was propped up by the 990 crew (which was one of the few games in town other than Basilio, at the time).

    Everyone seeing through his BS.

Butch Jones' explanation for Tennessee's goal line play-calling doesn't make much sense

Jones was asked about this baffling sequence on Monday and his explanation didn’t make much sense. He said there was a run play called on first down, but Dormady sensed a blitz was coming and checked to a pass. On second down, Jones said a quarterback sneak was considered but because Dormady “tweaked his knee” on the previous play and backup Jarrett Guarantano “didn’t have time to practice” receiving snaps from under center, a passing play was called.

    Yes, he really said that......
