What's crazy to me is that there's so much competition to get into the place... It's not like anyone outside of the state gives a rats ass about a degree fom Athens.... A lot of it is driven by the athletic success (real or perceived) and the supposed cache (around here anyway) of being a Georgia grad.

I know more than one family whose kid(s) are at Tech BECAUSE they couldn't get into UGa... To their credit, they are universally grateful of the fact.

That wasn't the case when Georgia was building themselves up, though.

Yeah, the sheer amount of applicants since the Lottery Scholy program started caused a lot of issues at UT from an admissions stand point.

Not likely. Our window to fire and hire a new coach is pretty well closed. You either do it by early December or you wait until the next year.

Only reason the Mississippi schools won't likely catch up is their pipeline of in-state students isn't strong when you look at high school achievement

Absolutely. Like I said, Georgia would have gladly taken my lazy, not giving a shit about school ass with no problem in 1984. Tech would have laughed me out of the registrars office if they'd have even bothered to look twice at my enrollment application. Nowadays, I'd have as much chance at either school as Berch does of winning the SEC, much less a natty....

    This is my position.

And I think that burning it down is going to take a lot of losses, a lot of crushed expectations (this year is not a bad start), and subsequently a lot of empty seats in Neyland. Then maybe, just maybe, there will be an epiphany.

BTW I just got notified by someone "in the know" that Blackburn is going to be named AD next week. We shall see.

Big Jim walking away would help, especially if Peyton takes his place.

Blackburn is the guy, the sooner they name him the better

UT is not ahead of Georgia on ACT scores.

And the idea of letting him fix the problems is like letting the stock broker that just cost you $4million dollars stay on because he deserves the chance to fix it.

No. You fire him for incompetence, or worse, negligence.

You can't fire me because recruiting is awesome. Also, I can't be expected to win because the roster is way too thin, four years into my tenure.

They were 6 years ago. Not sure about now. Maybe UGA has upped the bar. I'm sure they can as they have a lot more to draw from.

I can live with Peyton becoming the booster who calls the shots at this point. He won't be any worse

Miami Dolphins head coaches seem to do well in this league.
