Butch's Leash Under Currie

Currie will let there be no doubt if he pulls the cord during the season.

Don't want to deal with the "what if" game, regardless of probability.

 

2-5 definitely does it. 2-4 might.

 

It would be insane to pay Chip Kelly that kind of money while Butch is HC. We'd basically be paying Butch 5 million a year to not coach and let Chip run the show. Just fire the incompetent one and let the guy that knows what he is doing take over completely.

 

Chip will recruit just fine at tenn.

 

You could recruit just fine at UT. Kelly would kill it here.

 

yeah for all the talk about he hated recruiting, he was really good at it. people don't realize how hard it is to get top level talent to Eugene. what the current staff is doing there is amazing.

 

So the question becomes would UT be willing the bring in a coach, granted a proven winner, with a show-cause on his resume? I think we know the answer to that.

 

I mean, I doubt he'd go work for anybody. Why would he? Just dumb.

it really was dumb as ****. guy wrote a personal thank you note to the handler for "setting up everything," wrote the guy a $25k check, and never asked for anything in return. I never got it because chip always seemed fairly bright. it's ridiculous that wasn't a bigger penalty for Oregon.

How about this scenario? Butch beats Florida this year, Florida cans their coach and hires Kelly - who goes on to win big the next decade or two. And in the meantime, based on two wins over the Gators, UT gives Butch a 20 year extension.

 

If Florida hires Chip Kelly and we keep Butch, I'll probably just quit.

 

Chip Kelly can't and won't recruit at UT.

Would fail miserably.

He could take the Rick Barnes approach to recruiting and still get better results than Butch will ever see.

 

Lyle Allen Jones sucks. That is all. If Currie can't figure that out, I think I will refer to him as Madame Currie from here on out regardless of how demeaning it it to the actual physicist.
