Same umpire is crew chief for the series. Probabilistically, another McSherry has to happen at some point. Maybe this afternoon wouldn't be the worst time. EDIT: LOL, not even in the top 10 worst things I posted ITT
There's actually no way the series could go that would surprise me. Cards have looked like a 100 win team at times this year and looked like a team that would be lucky to win 50 at others. I would have personally gone with Dakota Hudson today on the mound, but what do I know?
I'm not optimistic about the Braves. I don't think Acuna and Freeman are healthy (especially Freeman.) Keuchel struggled down the stretch. Soroka was meh down the stretch. Our bullpen is average at best. I will say that this is a different Braves team. I don't see them choking, but they may just get beat.
I like 'em. They will start Keuchel (Cy Young winner,) Soroka (All Star,) and Folty (All Star.) The have a legit closer in Greene (All Star.) They have All Stars at 1st, 2nd, 3rd (MVP,) C, and 2 in the outfield. The Dodgers are really good, and so are the Astros and some healthy Yankees, but Atlanta can match them player for player. And screw the Cardinals.
Cardinals are bipolar. They’ve shown in a couple of stretches that they can be as good as anybody in the NL, swept the Dodgers in StL, but then they’ve scored 2 runs or less like 40 times. Starting pitching has been reasonably good and the pen was up and down, mostly decent but seems to be running out of gas. The offense is just incredibly inconsistent
Yeah, at the beginning of August I predicted that the Cubs would gradually pull away with it. Then the Cards got red hot. I'd hate to bet on either team. Anything can happen in a 5 game series. Heck, the Rays could beat the Astros (maybe).
the Cardinals are my first, most passionate love, and yet, even when they are eliminated, a significant part of me is glad it's over
