Chris Weathered Interview

Weathered was underutilized while at Tennessee. Here he is telling it all about his time and The Butch Jones Error.

 

Listened to it last night. Not a lot of anything we didn’t know, but it makes you shake your head. And he didn’t come across as a disgruntled whiny [itch bay] either.

I hate to hear a guy say he’d go elsewhere if he had to do it over. Freaking Butch.

Possibly. Reggie White did an interview after leaving school where he talked about getting paid during his time in Knoxville. 30 years later and his former teammates still resent that.

 

Thats a huge no no. You never brag about getting paid. Not even to your mother.

 

There should be a code of omerta, but like Fred Akers's famously said, "there's always an uncle."

 

You generally don't even talk about anything that happened in the locker room either. Ask Jim Bouton how revealing that stuff works out.

 

If there was a line crossed, I hope Weatherd can repair whatever damage may have been done between himself and his former teammates. While Bounton did capitalize greatly on his journals, he knew that he had crossed a line and was lucky enough to repair that unforseen damage with Mickey and the Yankees before it was too late.
