I'm late to the party but I saw someone say they couldn't imagine an injury to the ankle sliding. Well, I slid into 2nd base in my earlier years. It was a late slide - cleat hung - and everything burned and I heard a tear/crunch. Looked up at the 2nd baseman who turned white and turned around and said oh my God. I looked down at my foot. It was facing towards the ground. My right ankle hasn't ever been good since that break/dislocation.
