As I tell my son, daughter, and team - "Just be the best (fill in blank) that YOU can be."

I have always told mine "Try to be your best, you don't have to be THE best." My youngest right now is in a stage where he wants to be THE best, and that is fine, but don't let it kill you when you fail.

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with that at all.

Do your best and don’t be afraid to fail at things is the biggest thing

only when he only weighs 117 pounds and is losing weight from anxiety. Then there is an issue. We are working with him on it, though.

Yeah, there's got to be a balance achieved, but I love the attitude.

If my parents did one thing wrong, it was that failure wasn't an option. And it still plagues me today.

Some great advice I got was on how to compete and challenge yourself. My old coach told me to always find someone who I knew was a little better than me and to focus on outdoing them.

My incredible football fall continues. Anderson County beat Greeneville tonight, 38-7 to advance to the semifinals in Chattanooga

Dilfer leaving Lipscomb THE DAY BEFORE THE STATE TITLE GAME for the UAB job.

Still coaching the game. I'm not sure there is a good time to break that news to a bunch of high school kids around their state championship game. You do it before and it's obviously a big distraction. You do it after and you've won the game, then you're shitting all over their celebration of winning state. You do it after you've lost the game and you are kicking a bunch of kids while they are down.

    Holy [uck fay].

EDIT: Ah, he is coaching. And hopefully he informed his team before the news broke.

OK, good. That piece hadn't come out before I posted.

    I agree 100%. There's not, terrible timing.

They aren’t losing that game with or without Dilfer. Be interested to see what happens there and if they can keep the powerhouse going.
