Looks like the 3-6 model has more support than the 1-7 model. I'm glad. We could go 10 game conference schedule and I'd like it.
Three permanent teams, 6 rotating. Goal is that you visit every campus 1 time during the standard 4 year college career.
I did a quick model yesterday seeing how it would play out. There's going to be some interesting permanent games in there after the main rivalries are taken care of. I am glad Texas and A&M are going to start playing annually again.
These are three of the ten most-played games in SEC history and it’s crazy to me that so many proposals drop one of them (usually UK) without a word.
I don’t think anyone is actually considering this, but my favorite idea actually came from an Iowa beat writer and I think applies to the SEC as well as the Big Ten. Don’t standardize the number of rivalries. If Iowa has three trophy games that it considers non-negotiable, that doesn’t mean Rutgers needs an annual matchup with Northwestern or something. Similarly, if Tennessee has three of the oldest games in SEC history, that doesn’t mean South Carolina/Missouri must be preserved. Let the schools choose which games they feel are must-keeps, and schedule around them. Sure, it makes the rotation slightly more finicky, but we have a lot of computing power that we can dedicate to making the schedules work out. This is doable.
Hard disagree. You will end up with incomparable schedules over a period of time if all the historic powers always play and the south Carolina shitstain teams only rarely work in the rotation to play Alabama and other powers.
