There is still going to be damage in the US, and I think the initial measures were warranted (ask NYC if they should have locked down earlier). This feels a bit like the tornado siren went off and there was no tornado.

Here’s some info for the it’s just the flu crowd:

We have had 273,000 lab confirmed flu cases this season, or about 11.9k a week. We are seeing that many CV cases a day.

We have had 5,140 lab-confirmed flu deaths this season. That’s 220 a week. We are seeing that many CV deaths a day.

And the deaths we are seeing today are caused by infections that were acquired 2-3 weeks ago when infections per day were much lower. We are still in for a rough ride I’m afraid.

 

We have now passed Italy for total cases. I predict that we will pass China for total cases this weekend.
