and we are already starting to see the older and at risk people staying at home. the death rate is at a low and no one is mentioning that. the idea of re closing things is insane and it's already happening here.

It will shock me in the end if those protests don’t spawn new cases - but this same demographic is also the ones that had been in bars for weeks before protests so we’ll see. While there were protests in some of these hot spots, Florida really didn’t seem like a big protest spot. I don’t think San Antonio was.

A good fraction of those protesting in New York already had it I imagine.

No one is mentioning that? We've mentioned it repeatedly in this thread, as recently as today.

I am unfamiliar with such a circumstance.

i'm talking about the general media. all we hear about is the spike.

Because deaths lag cases. E.g., the low deaths now has to do with the low cases in late May/early June.

I think there’s something to it, though.

we'll see if we see a big spike in deaths. i'm skeptical.

Thats a lot of lag. I would think the average lag is between 15-20 days.

Depends on who gets infected. If the older populations catch this from the younger the deaths will come.

The large amount of cases right now is not unconcerning but we also need to realize infections are likely MUCH lower than they were in April/March and those most at risk are being more careful now.

yeah in march or april if you had it you didn't get tested unless it was bad enough for you to end up in the hospital by and large. also wonder if the mutation some are talking about is happening and we are seeing a more contagious virus, but less deadly.

I watched ABC news for 10 minutes
    -gloom and despair
    -states shutting down
    -hospitals overrun
    -new covid syndrome killing children
-story of a young mom dying and interview with a 17 yr old patient
-followed by trump supporting a racist tweet

I cant believe more people dont see what has been and is happening. Mind control fear mongering

I was looking at the "math" earlier. About 400k cases in New York. Estimates of up to 10x as many infections that didn't test. So that would be 4 million. There are only 8 million people in New York, so that'd be 50% of the population.

I just don't see how it is quantified, other than taking cases * 10 in other states/cities/counties and comparing to population and finding populations that are still spiking, but have that 50% number or more. And I don't think there are any populations like that.

I prefer quantity over quality, anyway.
