My response was not intended as a smart ass comment. I apologize if it came across that way. I was legitimately thanking you for actually having a conversation with me, rather than insulting me.

I had a specialist visit about a month ago. I was a week after having symptoms and everyone testing positive.

They asked me when my last symptom was. I answered. I still kept my appointment. But they might have canceled.

I don't know who was in the waiting room with me that day, but they do. So they should make the choice to cancel the appointment based on their knowledge.

    You're just a [Penis].

If they want to reschedule after telling the truth, then just have her go to one of the walk-in clinics. They can write a prescription for Valtrex just as easily as a specialist can.

This is something your doctor probably knows which is why I would tell them.

Our local doc office has a good system that seems to work very well. They have signs in parking lot with a number you call for check-in. They ask you the questions.

You get to sit in your car instead of the waiting room. They call you back on your phone when it is your time. You go straight back to exam room.

I love it. Sitting in my comfortable truck seat; farting with reckless abandon, if I'm so inclined; and listening to the radio.

If there are concerns based on your answers, they have you drive around to the back parking lot; come out and do a swab; go back in and test and come get you and take you back if negative. I don't know what happens if positive.

We live a block away from the doc’s office. They could do this very easily without her even needing to leave our home until it’s her time to be seen. But obviously they probably have their protocols for everyone, which probably can’t be changed for specific individuals.

No idea if they will test. Her biggest concern was just that they’d force her to reschedule if she answered yes to the initial symptom question without being given a chance to add context.

Some doctor offices have adapted better than others. Some to the extent that their process has improved.

The "question" issue is dependent on the level of common sense of the person asking.
I have been given the chance to explain with details.

Like someone said above, they want the revenue so they want to get you in.

    Re: questions -

The docs and staff are more concerned with the health of all concerned and want to take steps to mitigate risk and treat the patient effectively if positive.

The money guys are more concerned with the liability and cost of staff being exposed.
They can't be liable (or as liable) if a patient lies.

How'd they handle doing labs? Did they leave you in the room, or put you in the labs waiting area? Or did they send you to your car?

How about weigh ins? In the room, in a common area, in your car? Or do they not just do labs, weight and measures?

Maybe they have one of those guys from the carnival just eyeball your weight.

The vaccines work. Without them, things would have been terrible.

You sat in your car. They came out to your car took sample. You waited in car. Then would come get you after results. If negative, they come and take you inside and then you did the weigh-in, etc.

I only did the test once. Cause I was sick as a dog and did not know if I had a bad cold or covid. I was negative. It was a sinus infection.

For normal non-covid visits. You check-in via the phone, sitting in your car. They call you when ready and you go right to weigh-in and exam room. No more waiting room.
    It is glorious.

During the phone check-in, if they think you might have covid or have been exposed they have you drive around back and stay in car and go through the test process.

Everyone is required to mask inside facility, including docs/staff. You only take your mask off when the doc tells you to take it off.

Testing on premise is the kicker there. Have to have the rapid equipment, the staff, the PPE (if the staff uses it).

Hard to do. Nice if done, but not everyone can devote the staff and time to it.

I have no idea. I'm not even sure what time exactly her appointment is. We haven't spoken since she left work work this morning.

For anyone who cares, they just asked whether she has symptoms right now. Thought that was a bit odd, but we'll take it.

Omicron appears to be most transmissible before and during symptoms, and not long after. 5 days is what you see people say as the time to clear it.

You really should reflect on what it was you were worried about. Like the doctors were just going to do something unreasonable or unnecessary.
