That's simmons, olberman, and cowherd all leaving within a span of a couple of months. clearly espn is cost cutting after having a bad quarter earnings wise. though unlike simmons they actually tried to keep cowherd. http://thebiglead.com/2015/07/16/co...xt/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
they seem to be looking at the bottom line a lot more now that earnings aren't going up without them really doing anything. foxsports is willing to pay cowherd enough that he's probably not a profitable entity for them and ESPN isn't willing to do that.
I've never understood the supposed fascination with these types in the media anyway. Seems like all of the departures were completely replaceable.
I'm not going to argue that. I just don't get the public's fascination. I'm not ranting against him either. His delivery annoys me a bit, but I couldn't care less if he's on or not. It's more of, "What does he do that's so special?" Edit: I'd say similar things about Simmons and Olbermann or a local television station's newsreader.
I find him annoying too, but he's interesting at least. even if full of shit. more than I can say for mike and mike.
What do you mean by replaceable? Simmons was the most widely read sports columnist on the planet. That isn't replaceable, like by definition.
I'm thinking about the guy just wailing away -- I mean, just really going at it hard -- and the whole time he's actually humping a fold.
I guess. The question to be answered will be whether he is popular and widely read because of him or his platform.
