They've had a team since 1886. They didn't play full seasons until 1916 because of travel distance issues with many other teams. You guys know how many games UT played in 1891? 1. And we lost. Making a big deal about how many games Cal was playing prior to 1916 is asinine.

Between 1892 and 1915, UT played 168 games(7 gm/season). That's including two seasons of no team, and another season taken off to help fight in the Spanish-American War (starting to sense a theme here). Your original statement was They might have had a team longer, but they haven't been playing consistently longer.
