Compared to Guarantano, sure, but he’s far from the uber athletic QBs that have marked the recent era.
He might not have looked Uber athletic, but I’m not sure what else you call the ability to not get brought down by outrunning, running through and shaking defenders.
I’m not sure what the disconnect here is. I said he wasn’t the most athletic guy on the field and the general response is, “he was athletic.” My sole point is that he frequently beat teams with his legs despite not being a Nick Marshall or Lamar Jackson quality ground threat.
He may not have been as flashy as those guys were at times, but he was pretty athletic. He was like having another running back on the field. From the UTsports.com website:
Dobbs numbers for his two full seasons aren't too far off from Marshall's numbers and Dobbs puts his numbers up playing in one of the dumbest offensive systems ever.
And it never looked like he was running full speed or at a rate of speed you see most mobile quarterbacks run.
Marshall 1866 Rushing Yards 23 TDs 5.7 YPC Dobbs 1502 Rushing Yards 23 TDs 5.1 YPC Dobbs put up his numbers with very few designed run plays called for him, often times running out of necessity to keep from getting killed by d-linemen.
Dobbs was incredible. He wasn’t Peyton Manning slinging the tater but he wasn’t as bad as some made him out to be either. The fact that they had to basically pronounce Justin Worley dead on the sideline to even get Dobbs on the field tells you bout all you need to know
