47% of Democrats view capitalism positively, down from 56% in 2016 57% of Democrats now view socialism positively, little changed from 2010 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- For the first time in Gallup's measurement over the past decade, Democrats have a more positive image of socialism than they do of capitalism. https://news.gallup.com/poll/240725/democrats-positive-socialism-capitalism.aspx
I thought socialism was an economic system? I don't really look at public assistance, SS, or civil service as socialistic principles. Maybe I need to get smarter. It was just always my understanding that capitalism and socialism were two economic systems that were diametrically opposed to one another. Why has socialism now been scooped up as a political system?
The same number that liked the Affordable Care Act, but hated "ObamaCare"? We have become such an uninformed easily manipulated nation.
I feel like we could figure out how to make college free and have universal health care without the government taking over big business or raising taxes like crazy.
That budget, and our massive military in general, is rich men handing our money to their rich corporate friends. It’s obscene.
I don’t disagree. There’s massive amounts of wealth in this country, more needs to stay in the middle class down. But I’d damn sure rather see my money paying for doctors and school than attack helicopters and cruise missiles.
I have no idea, but is a majority of the money being spent on weapons? Or is it being spent on day to day stuff? Salary, pensions, medical insurance, electric bills, pens, paper, pencils? I don't know.
a reminder for you with kids comm college in TN is free for anyone graduating HS. No gpa requirement. Meanwhile I have a friend taking his son to Ole Miss today. It'll run him over 30k/year.
His kid had a 27 ACT and 3.35 gpa and didnt get in UT. I know many families in same boat. Ark, Bama, ole miss, etc will gladly take out of state. Friend sent his kid to 25k MBA private school and then 40k+ for Bama when he graduated.
Transfer in from community college. My little sister just did that. Also, 3.35 in an era of "5.0" classes ain't great.
