I’d love to see more of the 4-3 we ran Saturday, so long as Spillman/Perlotte are the 3rd LB and not Bolton. I think it’s too much to ask that we roll with Carter, Spillman, and Perlotte and leave both Telander and Bolton on the bench. Also worried about Aguilar staying healthy. Vandy’s probably sitting at 7-4 on the year without cheap shots to Sellers and Pribula.
They're a chippy, dirty team that tries to get the opponent out of focus. I hate that stuff because while it works, it takes the fun out of watching.
We held him in check last year but he’s been on fire. I kinda think we should run the 4-3 and not have our DEs fire upfield and sorta umbrella around him. Force him to throw on his drop. He causes problems buying time and running. Make him throw over our heads. I don’t know if I like blitzing him just due to how we don’t sit on routes when we do blitz and there’s always a mismatch open quickly.
yep. One matchup I don’t like blitzing. Force him to make longer sideline throws or throw over or DL and LBs heads. Have Carter or Perlotte spy him and go after him when they see the opportunity. If we man up he will run for 150 yards
Unacceptable to allow [uck fay]ing Vandy to come into the stadium named after General Neyland and secure a playoff spot with a win. If they do, the statue may come to life and beat the shit out of Heupel. They better win this game by any means necessary.
Looking at their schedule, I realize how hard it is to compare teams in the conference now. We have like 2 common opponents and the same record against them. If Tennessee were objectively the 10th best team in the country, they'd still be 8-3. And i see no reason to believe this 9-2 vandy team would not be 8-3 with Tennessee's schedule. Meanwhile, one could argue there is a potential for Tennessee to be 10-1 against Vandy's schedule. I wonder how much schedule and timing is enhancing the perception of vandy. I guess Saturday we find out. I think Tennessee should win by 14 points.
Their biggest SEC wins are Auburn, Missouri, SC and LSU. LSU sucked and Nussmeir the most overrated qb in D1. Coach fired. Auburn, coach fired. Mizzou qb was going in for an early lead and they intentionally dislocated his ankle and played the rest of the game against a true freshman qb and won by 7. Sellers was 7/8 before knocking him out of the game early. Bama handled them pretty easy and Texas was up 31-10.
The defense has gotten a little better. I know the competition sucks. There have also been fewer penalties. The crowd will be electric. I think the Vols play disciplined Saturday and roll. And we spend the off season kicking ourselves about the Georgia and Oklahoma give aways.
Here's what I'm expecting, everything we think he should do, Banks will do the opposite. Don't know why I'm so negative after the uf win. Maybe some turkey on Thursday will settle me down.
Because Banks sucks, I still can't stand the throwing DE's into zones. I'll give him credit on some of the blitz packages though as we went opposite of what we've done this year.
I hope the crowd is good and loose. Students are home for Thanksgiving but maybe enough will show up and help.
