    The guy was probably injured and tried to play anyway. Or maybe he didn't want to lay down at that point and risk the ball being snapped anyway? I remember Herbstreit freaking out about that and thinking he was an idiot.

    We had a kid get injured this season who didn't lay down to stop play. He was a corner and separated his shoulder or something. He ran from the opposite side of the field over to our sideline to get a sub, and we ended up having to call a timeout just to stop play so we could get it taken care of.
