big 12 commish says they are looking to add 2-4 teams. Houston ad reportably met with the pac-12 commish. best thing for the pac-12 is for the big-12 to implode.
If the PAC-12 takes Houston, I'll be shocked. Memphis is desperately trying to buy its way into the Big 12. Desperately. The PAC-12 may not like how a Big 12 implosion (which, really, isn't it imminent to occur?) shakes out. Texas would go solo, and they'd find themselves fightjng the SEC for OU / OKST. The SEC's adding TAM/Mizzou wasn't the end game, but the opening move in the ultimate direction, IMO.
PAC 12 presidents are such elitist ******* I'm sure they wouldn't even take Houston. What they need to do is encourage the implosion of the big 12. Texas would come to the PAC 12 if they had to and Oklahoma and osu would follow their master.
Decent sized media market, new facilities, t boons money. Sadly they are probably the 3rd best team in the big 12 to poach now.
Houston, being on the Gulf of Mexico, would make a great fit with the Pacific Coast league... I know this is old school thinking, but the fans who used to follow their teams to away games, not to mention the poor Olympic/non-revenue sports, are ****ed hard by this kind of grab-all.
What do they offer? I'd rather have vtech. At least they have a bunch of nutso fans and bring in the dc market
Actually is a fairly short flight to most PAC 12 cities. I find it hard to believe the PAC 12 is interested without Texas or Oklahoma too. They can give Houston a 1/3 share and bribe the other people. Probably won't work though. Move Arizona and asu and Colorado and Utah to the new division and the only real problem is interdivison games.
Anyone getting in is going to pay. Memphis is just willing to pay more. The funny thing would be if Memphis got into the Big 12, and then it imploded, a la Big East.
