They had security? I guess at a mega event like Boston, but as most races are open routes, and not gated in, it isn't hard to just walk into the race and up to the finish line, usually no bag checks. Boston different?
Generally, comman areas have some sort of security precaution. Cities have response teams on stand by.
i feel like every time we hear there is a another shooter or another device it turns out to be wrong.
I know several people running today - none good enough to have been at the finish line that early I don't think. It's a great event - sad to see someone f with it and its participants/spectators.
I've never been to any big events, must all the little ones just have LEO in the area, but not actual checks. Interesting. Friggen hell. Why can't everyone just calm the eff down, or take out their hate on themselves.
The finish line is a little hard to get to but the rest of the route is wide open. I don't remember bag checks but the actual finish line is closed to non-participants but volunteers have open access IIRC.
