I think this was the lowest amount of penalties for Heupel since he got here and we still averaged around 50 yards a game. Good coaches don't have these problems.

Not defending Heupel at all here because you are right, but this is also chicken and egg problem to some extent.

Obviously Saban and Smart are good coaches, but they have consistently gotten generous whistles.

Andy Reid and Bill Belichick are/were good coaches, but their teams won multiple Super Bowls with tremendous help from the stripes.

That is all to say, good coaches don't generally have problems with penalties, but good coaches also tend to get some help. Part of that is that good coaches go talk to the officials and get that help though. If nothing else, Heupel needs to improve that part of his game by a lot.

Kirby would’ve been on the field pulling out the flag for the ref on that missed illegal
    Substitution penalty.

I'm not sure that he has it in him. Lack of confrontation seems to be a problem.

    I am not either.

That said, if he can fire his buddy, he can tell Ken Williamson to call a [uck fay]ing hold or he will break his [uck fay]ing neck.

Good coaches also loose their shit when their teams get a penalty. The player hears about. I don't see that with Heupel.

Good, maybe we'll stop getting blown off the line time and again.

A good sign that Heupel understands the spot the program is in. Culture has to change. A new DC and a new strength staff will go a long way.

I bet Danny White is firing these guys personally. Probably loves it. He’s strutting around the athletic complex singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeeeear!”

Nah, he’s too busy planning his strip mall outside Neyland.

Better than a guy that has proven he sucks for a long time. So still improvement if you ask me.

That sounds promising and will definitely take it over what we had.
