I'll take my Clarett Jug with some Molinari, please. Francesco Molinari played the perfect round for a final in the Open. 16 pars and 2 birdies.
I heard some sportscaster saying "everyone" in the gallery was routing for Tiger to win. Obvious and self-serving media bias aside, I wonder if this really was the consensus.
Of course not. It is typical hyperbole that is easy to make. Look at the douche that yelled out in his down swing on 18. For me, personally, I don't hold what media and everyone else says about something that would make me hate it (for the most part). Why I don't hate the Lady Vols even though they are 'shoved down our throats'.
Also, I was trying to explain to my son Tigermania, and we found some page that listed the 21 golfers that had been ranked #1 since 1988 (I think.) Except for a 6 mo period or so where he bounced back and forth with Vijay, Tiger was #1 for something like 11 consecutive years. I'm not sure there has ever been a more dominant period in any major professional sport.
I think he is too but he hasn't done shit in years and I'm tired of hearing about him given that fact.
He won five tournaments in 2013 and then had a ton of back issues and basically missed three years. He hasn't won a major since his marital problems became public ten years ago, but still has been ranked high. He just isn't 2000-2003 Woods, but that is a pretty high bar.
He fell off the face of the earth for a long time. He deserves his place as a legend of the game. He doesn't deserve all of this coverage right now.
I disagree. He is still in prime playing years for a golfer, and Jordan got a shit ton of coverage after coming back from two years off. Nature of the beast. When a Megastar returns, it is big news.
A bit different situation. How many times has tiger “come back” now? How many times has he withdrawn from tournaments for back issues in these comebacks? Seems like people clinging onto hope for him to be old tiger again.
He was sole leader on the back nine at the British Open before two holes ended his run. Of course they are going to hype it up. I guess I don't see it as them hyping him up when he is 10 strokes back at the Ball Room Dancing Invitational in December. And him being near the top got me to watch for the first time in years, not going to lie.
