I’m really not sold on Tyson Helton.

 

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he's worked as Brohm's OC and worked under his brother as PGC

 

Which tells me he’s probably never called plays. I’m hopeful, but nervous.

 

Same boat here. I'm am leaning towards its not a very good hire. Guess we will find out.

 

So whats the final answer on who called plays for USC? It wasn't Clay. I watched him on the sideline and he didn't move his lips while the offense was on the field for several drives.
I'm up for giving everyone a chance, obviously. They do so much group discussion and planning, and all wearing headsets. If he's surrounded by good coaches and has a good feel for the game, when to pound, when to take a shot, pick out where the mismatch is with the help of his other coaches, he should be fine. "Hey Tyson, lets take a shot to JJ. UF cb is limping". I don't know that that type of communication occurred under Butch. I assume Larry Scott, if he even existed as bpv said, either listened to Butch and had no input, or was terribly dumb with a mute offensive staff.
