Happy 4th. Fireworks purchase a little different this year with less Chinese product and no damn parachutes. Splurged a little since we didn't do it last year and I had a buzz when son drove us over there yesterday. COD for the finale
I’m very concerned with it being so dry and there being so many rednecks around me that someone is going to catch something on fire. Also my dogs are in annual trauma mode
For some reason, fireworks are doing a number on one of my dogs this year. He didn't sleep at all last night and has already puked he's so worked up today. I'm damn near to the point of giving him half of a "gummy" to chill him out.
Melatonin *might* work. Just make sure you look up the dosage and don’t give him anything with xylitol in it We got some kind of calming treats that have like chamomile and hemp that seem to be working fairly well. My dogs get super jumpy
My dog is scared of a lot of things, but fireworks don’t phase him. Might be because loud bangs are sort of a year round thing in Baltimore.
Also, [uck fay] Baltimore’s mayor for canceling the city’s fireworks show. I think he cited COVID as the reason. Such a joke. Domino Sugar stepped up and put on a halfway decent show in the harbor. Good for them.
So as of tonight it appears I have one dog who is still scared shitless of them, and then the other decided to face his fears tonight He’s NEVER gone outside when fireworks were going off. Tonight I go out back to watch all the stuff around, he scratches at the door til I let him out, then has an absolute blast running from one end of the yard to the other, barking at whichever side is going off. Finally got him back inside and now he’s quietly laying in the floor like nothing’s happening
