Hubbs has said their were rumors, nothing they could nail down, but said as recently as yesterday that something could happened this week.

Swain is on Twitter saying Fulmer wants it and is already lobbying.

Has been some smoke about Charles Davis as well.

Wow, Hubbs is already shilling for Blackburn... Says that they need stability in case Butch has a big year and others come a calling... And that they already have a relationship... Wow... Get off your knees Hubbs

    What's wrong with Blackburn?

I'll take giving Hart a lifetime contract over Fulmer. I'd take Mike Hamilton back, before Fulmer. Fulmer burned a lot of bridges when he left, IMO.

I'll be gobsmacked if it isn't Blackburn. I think it'd be good to bring him in a few months before, just to get him re-acclimated. Just kidding - he knows more about UTAD than Hart does, even today.

This is great, great news. But bumble the replacement hire, and it will not be nearly as good as it feels right now.

I think he means that Hubbs is already being so blatant in ingratiating himself to Blackburn by publicly shilling for him.

    Hubbs gonna Hubbs.

I'm not super psyched about Blackburn and Butch having some pre-existing relationship. We don't need another Fulmer-Hamilton type situation.

Blackburn has a pre-existing relationship with everyone.

Unlike Hambone, Blackburn will outrank - and can outflank - Butch, from Day 1.

    JMHO.

That sounds fine. I really don't know much about him, but that comment made me raise an eyebrow.

Blackburn graduated from Tennessee in either 89 or 90 and worked as a student assistant with Majors.

He came back in 1993 and worked in the ad until taking the UTC job.

    He knows everyone

To say it another way, I don't imagine that Blackburn is at the tip-top of Butch's wish list.

It won't hurt him, necessarily, but it certainly won't help or insulate him, either.

Careful starting that, as it could plant a seed in the mind of our leadership to hire Bernie Sanders, and he will force us to forfeit half of our games in seeking to create a utopia where every team has the exact same record, deserved or not.
