If one doesn't trust recruiting rankings, one can simply look to who is getting players that all the coaches want, right? Recuiting in the SEC is akin to high school social dynamics. Everybody wanted to [uck fay] the prom queen. But only Johnny [uck fay]ed the prom queen. Billy felt good about himself because he [uck fay]ed some fat girl that nobody wanted, and this was a different fat girl from the fat girl he [uck fay]ed the previous week that nobody else wanted.

Unless we are getting the recruits that everybody wants, Dooley is more Billy than Johnny. Diamonds in the rough exist, but there might be only one per graduating class (i.e. a hot girl that inexplicably flies under the social radar for any number of reasons and Sammy snags that girl and hangs on to her because Sammy can't get any better and he knows that Johnny would have gotten her if Johnny wanted her). And if Sammy is being entirely honest, he'd tell you that he is happy with his diamond in the rough, but that he'd trade her for the prom queen.
