As I posted earlier, "He was not a good judge of executive material ..." especially in the modern age of college football head coaching.
I was there. It was a FU game by the players to the UT leadership. I had a bad feeling driving over the mountain to that game. I don't think many Vols will disagree that it was time. But our school leadership/boosters handled it very poorly.
Oh I’m not debating that, just pushing back on the notion that’s been discussed that he should have been given another year
In other news, PSU leaders say, "Hold our beer." Of course they have been saying that for a long time.
I sold my tickets right before kickoff in G10. The price? 6 warm beers. Actually felt like I won that deal. I was 16.
He had Penix committed when he got here. He had multiple actual good QBs interested and passed so he could let Guarantano throw games away and Harrison Bailey do nothing. He couldn’t have botched it any harder if he’d been doing it intentionally.
The results of yesterday lead me to believe that Tennessee's best chance of winning hardware this decade are with sticking with Heupel until the wheels come off. Penn State was a play away from the title game last year and are now in absolute ruins after seemingly proactively addressing their coaching deficiency. It feels like there is way more risk in going to the carousel than sitting on the pony we have. I reserve the right to change my opinion if we go 7-5 or something
I think we will know by January 16 whether Heupel has any prayer at all of winning a championship at Tennessee. If he fires Banks and loads up in the portal, it will calm me down. Otherwise, it looks like we are headed towards another doomsday.
