True. Honestly, I don’t think there’s enough national interest (outside of Storrs, Knoxville or South Bend) to warrant a change anyway. It’s not like women’s basketball is a money maker around here anymore. Even when it was at its peak it didn’t bring it in the way football or even the men’s program generates it.

 

I understand it's not a money maker, but we also would fire the track coach if they were terrible, too. She's, incredibly, pulling in top level recruiting classes every year. She can't coach her way out of a paper bag, though.

 

Is it incredible that this program would pull in top recruiting classes?

 

No, just her, although name recognition must be getting to its sell by date with the kids, who were in elementary school when we were winning our last titles.

 

But that will all end in few more years if we don't do something.

 

Maybe we need to move on from the past. Get some new blood and style. Grab a uconn assistant or ND and start running people out of the gym.

 

Next coach has to be Candace Parker or shut the program down.

 

I don’t think anybody expects Holly to be Pat, but given the talent she brings in, and the still small number of top flight teams in women’s basketball (compared to men for example), I also don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect her to make the Final 4.

 

What about her tenure makes you think she'd be able to be successful/fine at other schools?

 

Get football fixed.

Make sure Barnes has everything he needs and more.

Get baseball fixed.

Make sure softball has what it needs to stay top 10.

Get track fixed.

Keep golf rolling.

Get swimming fixed.

Get tennis into Top 10.

Make sure soccer is adequate.

Volleyball has shown some promise, let's keep them going.

Then it's time to put one additional penny towards women's basketball.

In fairness, Tyler screwed the plan up when he went and well, screwed.

 

Because women’s basketball is a non issue at just about every university in the country save about 5 or 6 schools. The only way you’d ever get any attention at all would be to win the NC and even then only a few folks would truly give a shit.

 

Tennessee Tech is top 10 in wins in women's basketball history.

I just don't think that many people really give a shit one way or another.

last game against Georgia, 1 sec on the time clock, thrown into someone in the clear under the basket, they take a dribble and shoot, times up.
On the other end, Georgia player shoots under the basket, misses gets their own rebound and puts it back up while our player stands there like a spectator. In middle school they teach to block out the shooter. Things like this are just pure coaching that the LV's are not receiving. But I do believe Heavy has more on his plate right now than to address Holly and will give her all the rope she needs.

 

I think Heavy waits until if / when the hardcore LV crowd calls for her head or she quits, and won’t budge before either of those things happen.

No need to aggravate the GLBT community - the most vocal and best organized of all communities - if you don’t have to.
