absolutely. stop all the shenanigans. Arod is an embarrassment with all the silliness and much of it is about the cameras and not the came. Pitchers with the same silliness. Screw all that. Play ball and move along. I can't even watch the game any more.

On the one hand i can see the point about closers being overrated, but wait until you have one that can't hack it
Ah, Lee Smith. And I am a firm believer that closers are totally irrelevant, especially the one inning wonders. The statistics just don't point to them being anything special (save outliers like Rivera).
I think the save is the second most ridiculous stat in baseball behind the hold, but the closer role is entrenched into the game now. There's just something about the mindset needed now for a guy to get the last three outs of the game consistently.
very few of them have a shelf-life much more than a year or 2. so many guys come along and are unhittable for a couple of years and then just lose it
Wins/Losses are up there for me as well, but I might be in the minority with that here on this board if I remember correctly.
