    read Wright Thompson's epic story on post Katrina New Orleans in the current issue of ESPN The Magazine. I am coming to the firm belief that he is the greatest current American writer.

    Thompson is a worthy heir to the writing tradition of Tennessee Williams and Willie Morris.
