I’ll leave it in Twitter format to have a little fun with @Ssmiff Obviously, he could just mean last home game of the season. I don’t think it would be wise for him to bounce. Hasn’t had a strong year statistically and he’s not going to blow anyone away at the combine. I’d say 5th round pick at best right now. With that being said, he’s a stud and I hope he comes back.
Odd way to phrase it if he plans to return. Body of work and measurables don’t seem to suggest he’d go in the first couple rounds. But even if he stays, he may not be able to play his way into that position next year...and if you’ve only got, at best, 10 years to play for pay, better to get after it as quick as you can.
I think players are more aware of the dangers of the game, and more players will be leaving for the NFL that aren’t the All-American tier of athletes we historically associate with leaving early.
I didn’t read that into the tweet at all. “This season” tells me he’ll be back. Not sure he’s ready to make the jump anyway.
Rule of thumb: if you are nervous about a player leaving then that player probably should consider leaving.
