Didn't want the TSR thread to be taken over by this argument but I thought it was worthy of discussion. Without ranking them, here are what I believe to be better WRs than Swain. 60s- Mills, McClain 70s- Morgan, Seivers, Hancock 80s- Gault, Taylor, Duncan, McGee, Miller, Harper, Woods 90s- Pickens, Faulkner, Fleming, Kent, Nash, Price, Copeland, Wilson 00s- Stallworth, Washington, Banks, Jones, Meachem, Hunter, Rodgers, Patterson Players I think he's comparable to but better: Anthony Morgan, David Martin, Lucas Taylor, Joey Clinkscales
Denarius Moore had better stats than Swain I believe. Edit: He did...here's a comparison: http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/denarius-moore-1.html Moore finished with 2109 yds and 19 TD's http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/jayson-swain-1.html Swain finished with 1720 yds and 10 TD's
Ooh good one totally forgot him, which is unforgivable because he's one of my all-time favorites (unlike that shitbag Gerald Jones).
No, not at UT, too many greats have come through here. That said, being a wide receiver, of course he will believe he is top 10. That is just how they are wired.
I think he's around the 18 to 20th mark. He did play in 50 games in his career, compared to a lot of guys that had 20 to 30 games.
Yup. And like I wrote earlier, he made a few clutch catches with the game on the line. But definitely not top 10, but an argument could be made for top 20. Top 25, for sure, imo.
Maybe it was injuries, but he like many others of that era seemed to be playing 15-20lbs heavier than their ideal weight.
I will say, in Swain's favor, he always played well. He was consistent, unlike several of the guys on the list that were more talented.
If I ever make it to Cali, I will make an effort to go see them. The name, however, is redundant and repetitious.
Nothing against him but he wasn't what I would consider one of the greats. I'd put him on par with Bobby Graham, Vince Moore, and Terrance Cleveland.
