The NYT article I read stated the women appeared to be young, but not for sure underage. There may be some liability concern as they don’t want to imply that some random guy in the files was sending illegal images of underage minors and then it turns out it’s a Playboy model.
Probably don't want to invite defamation lawsuits. Even if it's hard to prove, it will be costly to defend against with some of these people's bankrolls.

Yeah, I just didn’t know if there was some legal reasoning at all like not releasing names of people that aren’t under investigation or haven’t been convicted. I guess just hopeful it was something like that and not covering up for pedos.
Nothing was released before this year because a court had sealed it while Maxwell was being prosecuted. The only reason to hold it back is to keep the public from demanding action on more people. This is bigger than the alleged little black book that never surfaced. And they are openly redacting it.

I haven't looked at it, however I find it fascinating that people have memory-holed the corona virus pandemic near-misses prior to Covid. They were global news. SARS twice and MERS. So if it was around of those years, it may well appear eerily prescent to what eventually happened.
