I have never thought of gumbo when I think of country food. Just not even in that zip code.

No you cannot undo that with this. We do appreciate the creativity though. Like the Ga. St. loss for Tennessee football, this website had to have a low point. We will rebuild but we can’t sweep these things under the rug.

I say we just send the pic to Coach O and let him have definitive word on it.

I'm not undoing anything. The truth is by and large country cooking looks like Hyams gumbo.

This might be the worst take on the history of the internet.

wait, so you think "country" is limited to a specific region of the United States? Next you are going to tell me state fairs are a Tennessee thing

My God, do you have any idea of the Texas-themed posts you’ve just incited?

    “Country”can be anywhere.
“God’s country” is exclusively East Tennessee.

I was speaking from a specific reference frame - mine. Not generalizing the definition.

When someone from Appalachia says country food they aren’t talking about granny’s Wisconsin cheese curds.

Give me some cornbread, white beans, pintos, green beans, black eyed peas, green peas, and some ham, I’ll be just fine!

My mother would never cook pintos so I’d often walk down to grandmas and grandpas and see what was on the menu. Pintos and corn bread with some tobasco. Dear lord.

The biggest state fair in the country is the Minnesota State Fair. They love their country music but all the songs are about the South. I give them shit that there's no songs about Minnesota or North Dakota or Iowa or Wisconsin.

And I just chuckle when they want to talk Gofer football. Was with a group of UM alumni and they were thrilled with their 25th ranked class. I asked them if they knew what a 25th ranked class gets you at Tennessee...crickets...I said FIRED!

Cornbread smothers in white beans and ham is a delicacy.

And now I know what I want for lunch and no idea where to find it around here. Guess it's time to request a meal from mom again.

My mom would cook that thankfully.

I don’t care if it’s from soaked beans or Great Northern beans from a can, then cooked with ham. They are awesome.
