I think I'm just as satisfied with the mediocre recruits he has discarded from Dooley as with the guys Jones' is actually recruiting. I'm not sure what the ****ing Dooley recruiting plan was for UT.

He didn't have a recruiting plan. That is why you saw us going after "diamond in the rough" and "high character/low talent" players.

Dooley was not planning on coming back after the UK debacle. Hart made him. If Dools was the smartest guy in any room, which is what many have said, he was smart enough to figure out it wasn't working and how it would all go. So just go through the motions and play along if you have no early season success (UF, UGA).

Jones is just building a roster to cover the weakest spots this year. He can then go for the bigger fish next season.

There are plenty of big fish to be had next year. Unfortunately, I don't see any of them coming to Tennessee unless we win 7 or 8 games.

What might have been with Gruden!

He's recuriting these type players because it is the best recurits he can get period. This team will not perform at a high level next year and therefore elite recruits will not come. Dooley is a f---- moron but his first recruiting classes will be ranked higher than
the current high school championship coach. Hey, he did win four of them though with the best staff in america.

The two he has hooked and those that he has offered have been in the Rivals 5.5-5.7 ranges with a few exceptions. Add in what Dools' staff already hooked or had worked on. That type class will rank around 8th or 9th in the conference if he doesn't pull out a couple of studs. That translates into a similar finish in the standings on average for several years based on the talent he has on the roster to work with and what he is bringing in, providing he is equal to the rest of the SEC coaches in that grouping. A lot has to happen to just be decent.

So the fan base remains divided and the stands will have plenty of empty seats while the team struggles for minor bowls. His one shot to miss this fate is to have a better than expected 2013 season where he wins 8+ games and gains recruiting momentum to significantly improve the stable.

Or they could have hired Gruden. Really, really dumb.

Elite recruits, proper coaching and motivation, Bray and Hunter wanting to play for him, an united fanbase.

Also, the REAL Best Staff In America!

Sounds like Bonner could be gone making this pickup more important.
