Congratulations! Make sure to exercise your wrist and hand before the signing, as you will have to sign your signature about 20393093 times. Our last house we sold, I had to sign for my wife and me because she could not be at the signing. Sign my name, then sign my wife's name with a "by blah blah" as a proxy.

    Talk about fun!

Oh, and by law, they have to show you the box where it shows how much interest you will be paying on the house over the lifetime of the loan. Do yourself a favor, and just don't look :)

Already have, and every penny we can spare to pay extra on that principle each year, we are going to do it! LOL!

That first house brings a nice feeling of accomplishment, and perhaps a little twinge of apprehension, if the mortgage payment is a bit of a push.

I'll give you a tip that can save you up to tens of thousands of bucks, particularly if your mortgage is a 25 or 30 year one. Accelerate your mortgage by making regular extra payments on the principle. Make sure your mortgage holder allows it, the teller credits the payment properly. If you can double up, a 30 year is paid off in 15 years, saving half the interest, a considerable amount. It is not easy, but any amount paid will save you more than you pay in the early years.

Just wondering, anyone got any good recommendations for a home inspector in Knoxville?

I would drive over and do it, but I got out of inspecting last year.

Ask plenty of questions before you hire one. And if anything is in question during the inspection speak up and make sure you understand what exactly is the issues if any are reported. You are paying for an opinion make sure you fully understand what it is when given.

    Congrats bro.
