Does a Kentucky loss bring heat under Butch's seat again or has the win against a handicapped Georgia bought him another year no matter what?

I'm not confident that anything other than 4-8 gets him fired this year

and even then, I dont think I'd put any money on it

As has been said before, we can't even remotely afford firing him until after the 2017 season.

With a competent AD and our boosters on the same page, we can afford anything we want. That scenario may not be reality for another decade though.

I hear what you're saying and I agree to an extent. However, the Crowder incident would probably have given us grounds to release him. Something happened. And somebody decided to sweep it under the rug.

Could we get $8 million together after the '16 season to fire him? Maybe. I just think there are too many sheep like those on Volnation who will stand behind him no matter what.

Best thing would be for Tennessee to win out.

Butch takes another job claiming "success" at Tennessee, Hart retires and we start a new chapter of Tennessee athletics

That sounds like a too good to be true scenario.

Or, Tennessee wins out, Butch stays, we hear about how much better we will be next year for months leading up to next season just to be disappointed again when we lose to any team we play with similar talent. And then we probably keep him anyway.

That actually wouldn't be the best thing for Tennessee, indy.

Let's see where UGA finishes before giving that game so much weight.

Stand by for hearing about how Dobbs is losing these games.

I think he's saying that's what would happen if Butch were to win out, not that it's the best case scenario.

But who the **** knows. It is Indy we're talking about.

But Justin is saying the best thing is for Tennessee to win out-- full stop. because Butch isn't getting fired anyway, so his value being inflated has a chance to work out for us.

If that becomes true, the AD and the university is truly foolish beyond belief, and/or the Crowder incident was truly nothing.

The only way he's gone after this year is if he losses to both UK and Vandy, and someone else. He's gotta finish with a losing record for it to happen.

Vandy is capable of beating us. If Butch goes ultra-conservative against them it's very possible.
