I wonder if the timing of this move was somehow related to Auburn retaining Harsin last week.

This might be the 1st time, in a long time, that I am not too worried about who we bring in or how they are shuffled.

Nix. One of the guys I said we should go after. Kiffin went after Golesh so Heup should put him in his place in the SEC and grab Nix. Bonus part is Nix is a solid coach and recruiter.

    I’m all for a good troll, but that’s a pretty half-assed attempt.

Maybe I’m missing something, why would that make sense?

No idea, but pure speculation: Holding out that a new Auburn coach would bring him home. Maybe Heupel wanted to fire him/part ways, and Burns asked if he could wait it out to see how that situation panned out. Heupel being a good dude said sure. Now that Harsin has re-upped, Burns is holding up his end of the bargain and moving on.

Yeah fair enough. Honestly I assumed Kodi wouldn’t have made it to Knoxville without Garner. Not to say I was confident he’d only last a year but I don’t think he’s very good at all and I figured Heupel would quickly realize he could do better.

Kudos to Burns for playing the game effectively though. Parlayed Gus not trusting anyone he doesn’t know into the WR job at Auburn and now to being an NFL WR coach, he better learn in a hurry though because there’s no way he’s ready for that job at all.

The possibility that he could bring in some of the guys he recruited for them when he was there under Gus.

That's never the final determination on if it's a good hire, but it's sure a huge check in the box.
