Just for the sake of discussion.

If Butch were to leave after this regular season, what is our plan? Do we have one? Just let Dave Hart take another stab at it?

What if he leaves after the bowl game? We would be scrambling. How on earth do we conduct a serious coaching search at that point?

Just curious to hear some thoughts.

If things remain unchanged from now, Hart is left to take a stab it. History tells us Hart will be woefully unprepared and blind-sided by this, and make a rushed hire.

Nowhere to go but up. He would really screw us if he left after a bowl game.

I'm preparing for Butch Jones to the Big Ten and Kirk Ferentz to Tennessee.

    Win win. For Iowa.

    Not true.

Which is why we should have a plan if there's any indication that Butch wants out.

I would be all in that Hart would hire a clown and then retire.

Explain "not true." Do you think we can do worse than our current staff? That's a bit of a stretch.

The previous group was worse. It's really not close, to be honest.

we could certainly get worse in recruiting, if we completely quit again, as we did under Dooley.

I don't see recruiting well to UT as a tough job, but Dooley's lazy approach made people believe it's somehow harder than it is. UT has recruiting well throughout my life and the aberrations are the down recruiting years.

A new coach can compete for the SEC title next year. Following Dooley, a coach has no shot.

    That's a fair point.

    A literal clown. Coach Bozo.

I'm certainly no fan of either, but Dooley was heading towards putting Tennessee at Kentucky status and fast. He was a year away from winning 3 games. Butch, in all his mediocrity, is a .500 level coach for the duration of his tenure here, so, slightly better. Dooley and Wade Houston set the standards for terrible coaching on the Hill.

Stephen King's "It" would just kill attendance.

This. It was headed for 2-3 wins with Dooley.

We always keep coming back to this, for some reason

We have nothing else. Michigan fans can take a horrible loss and know in the back of their minds that the future is theirs. We take horrible loss after horrible loss and just compare our current jackwad to the previous jackwad.

Butch would eventually torpedo to less than .500 seasons. The recruiting will die sooner tha later. A loss to Georgia might have destroyed him, that's how close he was.
